WAVEFORM DIAGNOSIS FUNCTIONDisplaying data relating to servo and spindle motor movement graphically.
WAYSThe flat or V-shaped bearing surfaces on a machining tool that guide and align the parts which they support.
WEAR OFFSET VALUEThe part of a tool offset value used to compensate for tool wear.
WHEEL DRESSERA tool or device for dressing or truing a grinding wheel.
WINDUPLost notion in a mechanical system which is proportional to the force or torque applied.
WIRE-FRAMEA 3-dimensional drawing created by the projection of the points of intersection of the geometry.
WORD ADDRESS FORMATAddressing each word in a block by one or more characters which identify the meaning of the word
WORD LENGTHThe number of bits or characters in a word
WORDSet consisting of an address followed by a multiple-digit number. A word is a component of a block.
WORKA common term for a workpiece or part being machined.
WORK ENVELOPEIn CNC machining, the area a cutter can reach.
WORK HARDENINGA workpiece tends to become harder as it is machined.
WORKING DRAWINGA drawing, blueprint, or sketch of a part, structure, or machine.
WORKPIECE COORDIATE SYSTEM SHIFTShifting a workpiece coordinate system set in the CNC as required so that it matches a workpiece coordinate system assumed during programming.
WORKPIECE COORDINATE SYSTEMCoordinate system that is fixed for a workpiece and is used to machine that workpiece.
WORKPIECE COORDINATE SYSTEM PRESETReturning a workpiece coordinate system to its initial position if it has been shifted manually.
WORKPIECE ORIGIN OFFSET VALUEOffset of the origin of a workpiece coordinate system from the machine zero point. If an external workpiece origin offset value is given, an offset from the machine zero point is defined by combining the external workpiece origin offset and the workpiece origin offset.
WORKPIECE ZERO POINT MANUAL SETTING FUNCTIONSpecifying the workpiece origin offset on the workpiece origin offset screen so that the current position matches the specified origin.
WORLD CO-ORDINATES (ROBOTS)The co-ordinate system by which a point in space is defined in three cartesian co-ordinates and three orientation or polar co-ordinates
WORMThe threaded cylinder or shaft designed to mesh with a worm gear.
WORM GEARA gear with helical teeth made to conform with the thread of the mating worm.
WRIST (ROBOTS)The element of a robot which applies orientation to a tool.
WROUGHT IRONA commercially pure form of iron with minute slag inclusions which make it soft, tough, and malleable.
