TermDescription [ EN / PL ]
EACH-BLOCK CALLINGUnconditionally calling a specified custom macro program for each individual CNC command block.
EBCDICExtended binary coded decimal interchange code.
ECCENTRICA circle not having a geometric center. Also, a device such as a crankshaft or a cam for converting rotary motion to reciprocating motion.
EDGE FINDERA device used to find the exact edge of a workpiece along the x or y axis.
EDITTo modify a programme, or alter stored data prior to output
EDIT MODECNC state in which programs can be edited.
EDITING UNITMinimum unit in which program editing, such as deletion, can be performed. Usually the editing unit begins at one address and ends jut before the next address. (I would remove this item, too confusing and no help)
EDITORA computer programme which provides the ability to edit
EIA STANDARD CODEAny one of the Electronics Industries Association standard codes for positioning, straight-cut, and contouring control systems
EIA CODEInformation exchange code complying with EIA standard EIA-244-B (abolished in July, 1992). Used in numerical control.
ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE (EMI)Unwanted electrical energy or noise induced in the circuits of a device, due to the presence of electromagnetic fields
ELEMENTMatter which cannot be broken up into simpler substances by chemical action, that is, whose molecules are all composed of only one kind of atom
ELONGATIONLengthening or stretching out.
EMERGENCY STOPEntering an emergency stop signal to the CNC to cancel all commands, thereby bringing the machine to an immediate stop.
EMERYA natural abrasive used for grinding or polishing. It is being largely replaced by artificial abrasives.
EMULATORA device or programme which behaves like another system, and produces identical results
EMULSIONA coolant formed by mixing soluble oils or compounds with water.
ENCODERAn electromechanical transducer which produces a serial or parallel digital indication of mechanical angle or displacement
END EFFECTOR (ROBOTS)The general term used to describe a gripper or other tool used on a robot
END OF BLOCK CHARACTER1. A character indicating the end of a block of tape information. Used to stop the tape reader after a block has been read. 2. The typewriter function of the carriage return when preparing machine control tapes
END OF PROGRAMME - A MISCELLANEOUS FUNCTION (M02)indicating completion of a workpiece. (Stops spindle, coolant and feed after completion of all commands in the block. Used to reset control and/or machine.)
END OF TAPE - A MISCELLANEOUS FUNCTION (M30)which stops spindle, coolant and feed after completion of all commands in the block. (Used to reset control and/or machine.)
END POINTAn extremity of a span
END MILL/ENDMILLCutters used in milling machines. Types of End Mills include standard, ball nose and double ended.
END OF BLOCK CODE (EOB)Code (character) that signifies the end of a block.
END OF PROGRAMMiscellaneous function indicating the end of a main program. (M02,M30)
END OF RECORD (EOR)Code that signifies the end of a program. This code is displayed as a percent symbol ( % ) on the CNC program screen.
END OF SUBPROGRAMMiscellaneous function indicating the end of a subprogram. (M99)
ERROR DETECTINGA data code in which each acceptable term conforms to certain rules, such that if transmission or processing errors occur, false results can be detected
ERROR SIGNALDifference between the output and input signals in a servo system
ERRORThe difference between the indicated and desired values of a measured signal
ERROR CODENumber assigned to a classified alarm
EXACT STOP MODEOperation mode in which the tool is decelerated at the end of a block. The next block is not started until after it has been confirmed that the tool is in an in-position state.
EXECUTETo carry out an instruction or to run a programme
EXECUTIVESoftware which controls the execution of programmes in the computer, based on established priorities and real-time or demand requirements
EXPONENTIAL INTERPOLATIONChanging the rotation of a workpiece exponentially as the rotary axis moves, and performing linear interpolation between that axis and another. Used for tapered grooving with a constant spiral angle.
EXTENDED ARITHMETIC ELEMENTA CPU logic element, which provides hardware implemented multiply, divide, and normalize functions
EXTENDED PART PROGRAM EDITINGCNC program editing, such as copying or moving an individual CNC program, or connecting it to another CNC program.
EXTERNAL I/O DEVICEDevice connected to the CNC to transfer programs and tool offset data with the CNC.
EXTERNAL MOTION FUNCTIONOutputting a signal (external operation function signal) from the CNC each time a block in a program finishes positioning, causing the machine to perform a specific operation.
EXTERNAL WORKPIECE ORIGIN OFFSET VALUEOffset value from the machine zero point used to offset the workpiece coordinate system origin. There is only one external workpiece origin offset value, common to all workpiece coordinate systems, while the workpiece origin offset value is provided for each individual workpiece coordinate system.
EXTRUDEDMetal which had been shaped by forcing through a die.
EXTRUSIONA shaped part resulting from forcing a plastic material such as lead, tin. aluminum. zinc., copper, rubber, and so forth, through a die opening
EZY OUT (TRADEMARK)A tool for removing broken bolts or studs from a hole.
